Pokemon Diamond                                                    Pokemon Pearl

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are the first two games of the 4th Generation. They came out along with Nintendo's new handheld console, the Nintendo DS. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl uses the DS's features to their advantage, including the Touch Screen and WiFi capability.

These two games introduce 107 brand new Pokemon to its players, making a grand total of 493 Pokemon. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl also bring a new type of battle system by using Physical and Special attacks.

When you start your journey, you start of in a quiet town called Twinleaf Town. You get your first Pokemon from Professor Rowan, the Pokemon Professor of the Sinnoh region. He gives you a choice of Turtwig, the Grass starter, Chimchar, the Fire starter, and Piplup, the Water starter. As you continue along your adventure, you meet up with Team Galactic, an evil organiztion that wants to capture the Legendary Pokemon for their own use. If you have Diamond Version, they will try to capture Dialga. If you have Pearl Version, they will attempt to get Palkia.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl contains many different methods for you to capture your favorite Pokemon. This includes Wild Pokemon, Swarms, PokeRadar, Pokemon Mansion, and even inserting a GBA game into the DS's GameBoy Advance game slot, and transferring your teams from your GBA game (FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Saphire, Emerald) into your Pokemon Diamond and Pearl games. However, this is a one-way transaction. Once you send your Pokemon over, they cannot be sent back.

Diamond and Pearl take much advantage of the DS's WiFi capability. You are now able to trade your unique Friend Code with somebody else, and battle, trade, and even chat, over WiFi. The game also includes the GTS, or Global Trade Station, that allows you to trade with Pokemon fans around the globe!
